UA CMS Maritime Education 4.0
Spearheaded by Congressman AA Legarda, fully supported by Senator Inday Loren Legarda and under the stewardship of Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., the University of Antique launched its Maritime Education 4.0 in 2024 to modernize maritime training and align with global industry standards. Key developments include the establishment of the Maritime Augmented and Virtual Reality Laboratory and the Maritime E-Learning Management System, providing students with immersive simulation experiences and flexible digital learning to meet the demands of smart, sustainable, and technology-driven shipping.
Overview
Maritime Education 4.0 is here in UA!
The University of Antique College of Maritime Studies develops skilled seafarers and maritime professionals through top-tier programs in navigation, marine engineering, and maritime operations. Combining solid academic foundations with real-world training, we equip graduates to excel at sea with competence, integrity, and confidence.
Maritime ARVR Laboratory
A state-of-the-art facility that uses immersive ARVR technology to simulate real-world maritime scenarios, enhancing hands-on training in navigation, seamanship, and ship operations without leaving shore.
Maritime E-Learning Management System
A digital learning platform that delivers interactive maritime courses, SCORM-compliant modules, assignments, and multimedia resources, enabling flexible, accessible, and standards-based maritime education anytime, anywhere.
The CMS in Focus
College of Maritime Studies
Under this framework, the College of Maritime Studies offers two flagship programs—Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE)—crafted to produce globally competent deck and engine officers. Combining classroom instruction, advanced simulation technology, and hands-on shipboard training, these programs equip cadets with the skills, discipline, and knowledge to excel in the international maritime industry.
BS Marine Transportation
The BSMT program equips cadets with the knowledge and skills required for a professional career as deck officers and navigators. It covers navigation, ship handling, cargo operations, maritime safety, meteorology, and maritime law, supported by simulation-based training. Graduates are prepared for licensure examinations and careers in international and domestic shipping.
BS Marine Engineering
The BSMarE program trains cadets in the operation, maintenance, and repair of marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and shipboard electrical systems. It integrates classroom instruction, hands-on workshops, and engine room simulation to prepare graduates for licensure and service as marine engineers in global maritime industries.

Test course for Cargo Handling
Test course for Ship Maintenance
Test course for Engine Operations
Test course for Marine Safety
Test course for Navigation Basics

This course introduces the different navigational instruments or equipment that contribute to the safety of navigation. It allows the students to discover how a particular instrument or equipment can assist in their future role as a deck officer during their navigational watch. The course also helps students operate electronic navigational equipment used for obtaining and monitoring the ship’s position as well as determining under-keel clearance for safe navigation and compass errors. The course also serves as a critical foundation that will help the students to succeed in the other progressive Navigation and Deck Watchkeeping Courses.
